Magnificent Obsession
Watercolors-Pink Peony
Had not been blogging in the past few days because I have been studying Song of Solomon again This time it has been a wonderful romantic experience. I felt the Lord guiding me to understand the Jewish wedding traditions. It is amazing how much is revealed about the Kingdom of God in these traditions!. The part that became an amazing revelation was the tradition of the mohar. In the Jewish wedding traditions, the Father of the groom selects a bride for the groom and he pays a price for the bride according to the value and worth he sees in the bride and for how much the groom desires the bride. As I pondered on this concept, I realized that this is exactly what God has done for us with the cross. The cross is the mohar (price)God was willing to pay for us as the perfect bride for His son. We are the Bride of Christ! He values us so much that He let His son die on the cross to cleanse us from our sins but it also represents the value He sees in us as the perfect bride for His son. This is the perfect picture of the love of God! I wish that most people could see and understand the love God has for us as the bride of Christ.
This revelation combined with the description of the bride in Song of Solomon (chpater 7) became the perfect combination for me to see the cross not only from the redemptive perspective but gave me understanding of the value and beauty God sees in me as a lover of Christ.
